In 2019, the AiF and its subsidiaries awarded 496.2 million euros in public funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) as part of pre-competitive Industrial Collective Research (IGF) and the funding instrument "R&D Cooperation Projects" of the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM). This means that the volume of promotional funding raised slightly compared with the previous year (2018: 474.3 million euros).
In the IGF programme, 180.2 (181.3) million euros were disbursed and 576 (543) new projects were approved. There were over 23,000 participations by companies in a total of 1,918 ongoing projects. In the ZIM programme, 316.0 (293.0) million euros were disbursed and 2,409 (2,600) new projects were approved for R&D co-operation projects.
The German Federation of Industrial Research Associations (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen - AiF):
The FVV together with six other industrial research associations (air and drying technology, automation and microelectronics, drive technology, intralogistics, machine tools, printing machines) of the Mechanical Engineering Research Association (Forschungskuratorium Maschinenbau - FKM) have been, once again, strong research partners of the AiF.
In the new edition of "AiF Facts & Figures" you will also find an overview of research-strong urban and regional districts (company participations in IGF projects within the framework of the project user committees) as well as the distribution of the subsidies paid out for IGF projects by federal state.
