The mission statement of NOW GmbH is a climate-neutral society. We support the federal government in its climate and industrial policy goals by coordinating funding programmes open to all technologies on battery-electric mobility, the Mobility and Fuels Strategy, charging infrastructure for electric mobility and in the National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology.
This annual report bundles the activities on implementing funding programmes in the 2020 reporting year as well on shaping international collaborations and demonstrates our tangible commitment to the acceptance of alternative mobility technologies in society.
Mobility that secures and is geared to the future is the goal. Sustainability is the key. Getting everyone on board is our mission.
The climate goals set by the federal government serve as the guide of NOW. As a federally-owned company, NOW take assignments in the area of sustainable mobility and energy supply from so-called top-level federal authorities, i.e. federal ministries. These assignments mostly consist of the implementation and coordination of funding programmes. They are also tasked with accompanying strategic stakeholder processes, organising international collaborations, and they are active in advancing acceptance of alternative technologies in society.
The founding mission of NOW is the National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP). To this day NOW has hydrogen and fuel cell technology in its name.
NOW’s task portfolio has vastly expanded since its establishment in 2008. Not least because of increasing societal and political importance of clean, efficient mobility based on renewable energies. In terms of technology, NOW’s tasks today include the areas of hydrogen, fuel cells, batteries and liquid gas, both in terms of drives and fuels, as well as the infrastructure side.
