Prof. Dr. Peter Gutzmer elected new President of the FVV

Prof. Dr. Peter Gutzmer (Schaeffler AG) was elected as the new President of the FVV (Forschungsvereinigung Verbrennungskraftmaschinen | Research Association for Combustion Engines) at the autumn meeting of the FVV Board held in Frankfurt/M. on 17 November 2017. At the same time, Kai Knickmann (MANN+HUMMEL GmbH) was elected as Deputy President.

More power. Less cost. FVV starts research on advanced fuel cells for 2025

FVV | The Research Association for Combustion Engines is committed to the further development of the fuel cell. The aim is to make emission-free long-range and freight mobility affordable. A new planning group led by Dr Merten Jung (BMW) has started work and is now launching the first research projects.

The People Behind the Technology

The new book “PRIMEMOVERS – Current areas of research into engines and turbines” allows an insight into the work of engineers, who conduct research on clean engines and turbomachinery, in a way that makes science accessible also to the non-expert. The FVV | Research Association for Combustion Engines publishes this book, written by the renowned technology journalists Laurin Paschek and Johannes Winterhagen, on the occasion of its 60th anniversary.

Digital Simulations for Real World Engines and Turbines: FVV awards Hans Dinger Prize for Young Researchers

New digital simulation methods allow engineers to develop clean and sustainable engines and turbines. This is the conclusion of the 2016 contest of the Hans Dinger Prize (HDP). The Forschungsvereinigung Verbrennungskraftmaschinen (FVV, Research Association for Combustion Engines) awarded its young researchers prize for the sixth time this year. It recognises the excellence of the scientific work of young scientists contributing to the success of the association’s industrial collective research (IGF) projects. This year’s awardees are graduates from the universities of Aachen, Hannover and Stuttgart. The winner received 3,000 Euros.

60 Years of Research on Clean Engines and Turbomachinery

The FVV is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Since the association was founded in Germany in 1956, industry and science have been working on clean engines and turbines. The progress achieved in decreasing the use of fossile fuels and reducing exhaust emissions has been huge. To mark this anniversary, the FVV opens its research agenda for new topical issues.

High Pressure in Aachen: New FVV Advanced Centrifugal Compressor Test Rig Placed into Operation at RWTH Aachen University

The start of operation of the FVV Centrifugal Compressor Test Rig on 5th April 2016 at the RWTH Aachen University marks a technological milestone in German centrifugal compressor research. This ultra-modern installation enables industry and science to successfully continue their 45 years lasting co-operation under the umbrella of the Research Association on Combustion Engines (FVV).
