Newsletter 02/2025

In this issue, we present research activities that are exploring multi-path strategies and providing important impetus for the sustainable transformation of the energy generation and transport sectors. These projects show how different technological approaches – from e-fuels and hydrogen to innovative concepts – can work together to help achieve climate neutrality and defossilisation more quickly. In addition, Martin Nitsche, Managing Director of FVV, explains in an interview the challenges and opportunities of a multi-path strategy.

We hope you enjoy reading this issue and wish you an exciting overview of the latest developments in Industrial Collective Research (IGF)!

Driving sustainable mobility: How the multi-path strategy supports climate targets

In a recent interview of VDI, FVV Managing Director Martin Nitsche explains why a multi-path strategy – i.e. the simultaneous use of a variety of energy conversion systems – can make a decisive contribution to achieving climate targets more quickly. Using real-world examples, he shows how e-fuels, hydrogen and other technologies can not only accelerate the phase-out of fossil fuels, but also support the defossilisation of existing fleets.

IGF Expert Group Election
Strong expertise for the future of Industrial Collective Research

The elections for the new make-up of the IGF Expert Groups (Gutachtergruppen GAG) for the 2025-2027 term of office have been completed.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who actively participated in the election. By staffing the groups with proven experts, we are helping to ensure that funding applications from Industrial Collective Research (Industrielle Gemeinschaftsforschung IGF) can continue to be evaluated at a very high quality level.

The 206 experts from academia (ACAD) and industry (OEC) are organised into seven specific expert groups (GAG) (1-7).

The proportion of newly elected experts in the GAG groups is 40%, which contributes to a regular renewal of the evaluation expert system.
