Newsletter 04/2024

In the current issue of our newsletter, we would like to introduce you to the »Shapers of the future«: Great minds in our network have their say on current topics. Find out how invisible but indispensable material technologies are revolutionising energy efficiency and which innovative strategies are helping companies to master the transition to a more sustainable economy. You can also find out how modern technologies are reducing emissions and paving the way to a more liveable future.

We would also like to remind you of our highlights of the upcoming FVV Transfer + Networking Event. As always, there will be exciting guest lectures.

We look forward to your participation and hope you enjoy reading this newsletter!

Energy Flexibility – Keynote Lecture

We are very pleased to present Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans Ulrich Buhl as a keynote speaker at the FVV Transfer + Networking Event in Würzburg on 19 September 2024!

Professor Buhl is one of Germany's leading business informatics experts. He is Professor of Business Administration, Business Informatics, Finance & Information Management and heads the ›Flexibility Markets Implementation‹ research area in the Kopernikus project ›SynErgie‹ on behalf of the FIM Research Institute & Fraunhofer FIT. The aim of this BMBF-funded project with 80 partners across Germany is to adapt industrial processes to a fluctuating power supply by making energy more flexible.

In his keynote speech, Professor Buhl will address issues relating to the techno-economic complementarity of hydrogen and e-mobility and will also be happy to answer your questions.

Transfer // Autumn 2024
W10 Anniversary Session

The joint FVWHT+FVV working group W10 has been investigating into the high-temperature behaviour of heat-resistant steels for more than 50 years now.

The anniversary session will be presented by Dr. Martin Reigl (GE Power), Henning Almstedt (Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG) und Dr. Christian Kontermann (MPA-IfW, TU Darmstadt).

Transfer // Autumn 2024
AICE Session

Another highlight of the event is the participation of the Japanese research association AICE, which works closely with us. With his presentation entitled »AICE's Efforts to Realise CN in Vehicles with Internal Combustion Engines«, Takaaki Kitamura will give us an insight into current Japanese research projects.

Science Stories: Shapers of the Future

Through innovative collective research, the FVV is making an important contribution to the transformation of the energy and transport systems.

FVV member companies are developing technologies and products that show that combustion engines are fit for the future. Younger generations of leaders approach challenges differently, questioning processes and established structures.

In our new series, we introduce brief profiles of people who are working to make engines, vehicles and machines more efficient, cleaner and more durable.

Shapers of the Future – Dr Christoph Weißbacher
Invisible yet Indispensable

Christoph Weißbacher designs low-friction plain bearings for machines and transmissions. Despite being hidden behind the scenes, new material technologies play a decisive role in energy efficiency and sustainability. The Science Story »Invisible, yet indispensable« shows how invisible innovations are playing a key role in shaping the future.
