Newsletter 05/2025

As autumn approaches, so does the next FVV Transfer + Networking Event - a forum for the exchange of ideas between science and industry and for the transfer of current project results. This time, the focus will be on fuel cell research, which will be represented with a keynote speech and three final project reports on materials research and development tools.

In this newsletter you will find the programme of the forhcoming autumn conference, insights into selected projects, and information on registration and organisation. We will also take a look at our latest transfer report and key developments in Industrial Collective Research (IGF).

We invite you to explore the current state of scientific research in our wide-ranging subject areas and look forward to welcoming you to Würzburg in September.

Enjoy reading!

FVV Transfer + Networking Event | Autumn 2025
The programme is now available online!

We are pleased to present the programme for the FVV Transfer + Networking Event | Autumn 2025, which will take place at the Maritim Hotel Würzburg from 24 to 26 September 2025.

During the conference, scientists and industry experts will learn about the latest Industrial Collective Research (IGF) interim and final reports and discuss FVV's future research needs.
As usual in autumn, the annual meetings of the General Assembly and the Scientific Advisory Committee will be held alongside the sessions of the Expert Groups on Energy Infrastructure & Storage, Sustainable Powertrain Systems, Engines, Electric Motors, Fuel Cells, Turbo Machines, Zero-impact Emissions, Materials Science & Recycling, and the Research Committee.

From the lecture programme:

  • Fuel cell systems:
Material behaviour + service life, impedance analysis and diagnostic tools
  • Energy conversion systems:
Injection, combustion and exhaust gas behaviour of climate-neutral fuels
  • Turbo machines:
Development tools, simulation techniques and new design approaches

We look forward to your participation and to discussing the latest research ideas and results with you.

You can download the conference programme here.

Research Funding // IGF
Good news from Berlin!

In early June, the German Federal Budget Committee approved additional commitment authorisations of up to €272 million as part of the provisional budget for 2025 – among other things to support the industrial research programmes Industrial Collective Research (IGF), Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) and Innovation Competence INNO-KOM.

This will allow the approvals for Industrial Collective Research (IGF) for the first half of 2025 to be made up: According to current plans, those projects are included that were invited to submit applications by April 2025 and submitted a timely application for funding. IGF projects that are considered in this context will be informed promptly by the DLR project management agency. In that context it should be mentioned that electronic notification is once again possible in the IGF funing programme as a further step towards reducing bureaucracy.

For innovative SMEs and their industrial research activities, this decision represents important support in the implementation of forward-looking research projects.
