Fuel cells are a key focus of the FVV Transfer + Networking Event | Autumn 2025. As a key technology for climate-neutral energy and mobility systems, fuel cells are being systematically investigated in Industrial Collective Research (IGF), from modelling individual components to evaluating entire reference systems. The conference in Würzburg provides a platform for scientific and industrial exchange: project reports, specialist presentations and workshops enable direct interaction between research institutions, companies and specialist groups. The keynote speech, »Hydrogen as key to the energy transition«, considers the topic in a broader context, highlighting the importance of fuel cells in transforming energy and mobility systems.

We hope you enjoy reading our newsletter and look forward to seeing you again in Würzburg!

Keynote: Hydrogen is key to the energy transition

In his keynote speech, Mr Pohl, Team Leader for Systems & Testing at the Alternative Vehicle Drives Chair at Chemnitz University of Technology, will focus on one of the central themes of the energy transition: hydrogen. Titled »Hydrogen as key to the energy transition – from sustainable production to the PEM fuel cell of the future«, his speech will outline the path from production to application in fuel cells. This will cover not only technological advances, but also how H2 can contribute to transforming energy and mobility systems. The keynote speech promises to provide a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and challenges on the road to a climate-neutral future.

Invitation: Workshop of the Expert Group Electric Motors

We are pleased to invite you to a workshop as part of the Expert Group meeting on 24 September 2025. The aim is to align the Terms of Reference of the Expert Group Electric Motors with your current research needs, revising them as necessary.

Our goal is to refine the group's focus and stimulate new ideas for future projects. .

Play an active role in shaping the future of the expert group during the workshop.

We look forward to your participation and active contribution!

Review on Spring 2024

The Spring 2024 Transfer Report summarises the highlights of the last conference:

Technical and political perspectives in carbon management / Ways to reduce emissions and CO2 effectively and efficiently / Keeping an open mind for the future.

The research directory lists all presentations with the conference proceedings and final reports (if available). At the end of the publication you will find QR codes for the research programme and meetings (updated daily in THEMIS) and a project list (as of Q3/2025).

FVV on the jury
hy-fcell Award 2025

Hydrogen and fuel cells are crucial for achieving climate targets. To recognise exceptional progress in this pioneering technology and encourage further innovation, the Innovation Award for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells will be presented at hy-fcell 2025 once again. The award will be presented in three categories, each with a prize of €10,000.

This annual award is supported by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Sector, and Messe Stuttgart. This year's ceremony will be held on 7 October 2025 as part of hy-fcell in Stuttgart.

We are particularly pleased that Jana Müller from FVV's project management team is on the jury and will contribute her expertise to evaluating the entries submitted. By participating in the jury, FVV is directly contributing to promoting and raising awareness of innovative approaches in the field of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
